Agricultural Equipment Operators

Work description

Workers will perform general agricultural labor associated with a family-operated grain farm and feeder lamb operation. Workers will be responsible for transporting stored grain to local elevators and preparing tillage, fertilization, spraying, and planting equipment to operate and facilitate an efficient and timely planting season. Once equipment is serviced and prepared and weather allows, workers will work the crop ground, spreading fertilizer, planting corn and soybeans, and applying chemicals through the summer months. Workers will incidentally assist in the care and management of lambs during adverse weather. During periods of extreme cold and/or heavy snowfall, workers will assist other employees with feeding lambs, such as distributing hay or grain, clearing waterers of ice, administering basic medical treatments, assisting in maintaining facility cleanliness, and operating equipment to provide livestock with bedding and/or to clear snow. Workers will occasionally assist in these daily care duties to ensure the job gets done promptly before returning to daily grain operation responsibilities. Positions require a minimum of three months of prior experience operating farm equipment and working with livestock, including driving a semi-truck to haul grain to local elevators within the vicinity of the farm; a commercial driver's license (CDL) is not required for this duty. Work hours are dependent on weather, crop conditions, and operational demands and may fluctuate during the season. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.
