Historically Pacific NW Forest has brought in 45 workers to fulfill their contractual obligations. This year, again, Pacific NW Forest is requesting 45 workers in alignment with what they have previously requested. They usually begin tree planting October 1, 2026. Due to processing delays Pacific NW Forest elected to go with the soonest start date they could file for which is 10/26/2026. They have lost crucial weeks but still will finish their season 07/31/2027. Pacific NW Forest lnc.'s need for 45 temporary workers from October through July is seasonal in nature, directly tied to the Northwestern Region's distinct climate patterns and the forestry work that can only be performed during specific months of the year. The region's [ate, dry summers from August through September provide optimal conditions for critical forestry activities such as tree planting, hand tree pruning, tree thinning/TSl operations, and fuel reduction work. During these months, workers can safely access forest areas to perform bud coping, hand piling, tubing, and grubbing/scalping activities that are essential for forest management. The dry summer conditions also create the necessary environment for prescribed burning tasks and fire suppression activities, as fire season typically peaks during the warmer months when vegetation is most susceptible to ignition.
