Livestock Worker

Work description

Workers will feed and water livestock; monitor feed and water supplies; mix feed, additives, and medications in prescribed portions; order, load, haul, and distribute feed using trucks, tractors, and other agricultural equipment; examine livestock for signs of illness, injury, disease, or abnormal weight gain; administer vaccinations and medications and arrange for veterinary care as directed; move livestock, equipment, tools, and other materials between locations manually or using vehicles; inspect, maintain, clean, lubricate, and repair livestock equipment, farm machinery, vehicles, pens, yards, fences, buildings, irrigation systems, plumbing, and sprinkler systems; inspect mechanical and electrical equipment to identify damage, defects, wear, or malfunctions using inspection reports and work orders; install, repair, maintain, tune, overhaul, and adjust engines, farm machinery, vehicles, and other equipment to ensure proper operation; reassemble and test equipment following repairs and make necessary adjustments; and drive trucks to transport tools, equipment, machinery, and materials to and from repair locations. Employer may provide pay increases based on performance, longevity, and/or experience at the employer’s discretion. Employer may also provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
