Work description

This position performs seasonal farm and ranch labor for a beef cattle operation during the winter calving and cattle production season, with labor needs tied to the annual cattle production cycle. For the employment period of December 1, 2026 through March 1, 2027, workers assist with seasonal activities beginning with preparation of calving equipment and supplies and continuing through calving assistance, calf care, and winter feeding and watering of cattle. Duties include assisting with calving cows and heifers; administering vaccinations, medicine, and antibiotics to calves as needed; providing colostrum to newborn calves within six hours of birth; recording calving dates and calf weights; ear tagging and numbering calves at birth; using equipment to move hay for feeding cows and heifers; breaking ice in frozen water troughs; repairing frozen or broken water lines; moving cows to pasture as forage becomes available; and moving yearlings to market for sale, concluding with breakdown and storage of seasonal equipment. These duties constitute general farm labor involving livestock handling, feeding livestock, and livestock health and wellbeing. This position requires at least three months of prior experience working with cattle and related farm equipment. Workers are needed only for the season described above, and their work is limited to the duties described for this position. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.
